@thefishingmutts - Do you wanna go fishing?

Last weekend we planned to float in the raft but the windy forecast begged to differ. We decided to go for a long hike on the river instead. I was initially worried the dogs might get cold. We’d be too far from the car to quickly turn around this time. So, I packed their warmest Hurtta Expedition Parka dog jackets and we headed out for the day.

One thing I didn’t account for was the fact that these old pups would stay moving ALL day. They got the zoomies on every sand patch, pulled dozens of sticks out of the river, Lennie hopped through tall grass searching for critters, and of course, Teddy looked for fish. He was so excited that he even made his signature fish face. 😬 They had the BEST time and never showed any sign of being cold.

I have to admit that at first, I was hesitant about our necessary change of plans. That was before I saw the dogs having an absolute blast, living their best lives. Even on the chilly, windy days, they would much rather be included on a river adventure than stuck inside. If I’m trying to gleam a small lesson from my dogs this weekend, it’s simply to embrace unexpected changes. Having an open mind can help us make the most of every situation.
