There is nothing we love more than taking the dogs on an adventure. Realistically, however, adventures to new and exciting places are not something that happens everyday or even every week. We're all busy. Work, commitments, budgets and less than ideal weather can all impact adventures.

In these busy seasons of life, I think it is extra important to carve out time for adventures. With Jackson and Memphis in their senior years, I don't want to miss any opportunity to spend quality time with them. If time is tight due to schedules make it a short adventure. If the budget is tight don't stray far from home.

If the weather is less than ideal prepare for it with proper gear for dogs and humans alike. None of our dogs appreciate rainy weather, but we make the most of it in their Hurtta Monsoon dog rain coats. The rain coat is waterproof but allows freedom of movement. It keeps them dry and happy on the trails. It also makes us happy, as it helps keep mud and wet dog hair out of the vehicle after our adventures. When we are short on time, the last thing we want to do is clean up additional mess!

Less than ideal weather often ends up being my favourite adventure weather. It usually means having the trails to ourselves! At the end of the day the dogs don’t care if the adventure was to an epic viewpoint or a stroll through the local park. They just want to spend time with us. Maybe this is a lesson in enjoying the moment that our dogs teach us.
