Kicking the Off Summer
We were counting down the days until summer, and finally, the first summer weekend arrived! We loaded up our van with all sorts of sports gear and set off for Bohinj, a gorgeous part of northwestern Slovenia. Over four action-packed days, we hiked, mountain biked, chased waterfalls, and—drumroll, please—officially kicked off this year’s kayaking season!
Safety is our number one priority when it comes to adventuring with our pups, and we were excited to try out the new Hurtta Life Savior ECO dog life jackets. Nano’s old dog life jacket from another brand wasn’t of the best quality and restricted his natural movement, and Nui’s previous dog life vest was pretty much worn out already.
Nui and Nano are already trained to be on a kayak, so they patiently waited while we put their dog life jackets on. I absolutely love the fit of these dog jackets, and how soft, light, and flexible they are; it’s like Nano and Nui don’t even realize they’re wearing them!
Ready to go!
The trusty, lightweight Hurtta Life Savior ECO is made for swimming, boating, hunting, water rescue and more. The new flotation material is softer and more flexible to conform to the dog’s body and balance weight optimally without restricting the swimming motion.
Ready, Set, Paddle
With life jackets snugly in place, it was time to hit the water! I mean, Nano needed a bit of help climbing into the kayak, that is ;) He immediately went to his favourite spot at the tip of the kayak and Nui took her position in the middle, paws on the edge, surveying the surroundings.
For the first round, I stayed ashore to snap some pictures, then it was time to join the fun! Nano and Nui are a bit shy about swimming from the shore, but Nui will leap from the kayak in the middle of the lake if she’s in the mood. That’s when the handle comes in handy to lift her back in!
Nano is wearing the size 5-10kg of Hurtta Life Savior ECO dog life vest.
Nui is wearing the size 10-15kg of Hurtta Life Savior ECO dog life vest.
Fun and Zoomies
They also enjoy swimming back to the shore once we’re near it, so we made a tradition out of it, and no kayak adventure can be finished without them splashing around. And yes, zoomies on the shore are a must too! This was such a perfect afternoon on the lake, and I can’t wait for many more happy summer pawdventures!
Dress, Fit & Go
